RTD2016 – Matador to headline Electronic Stage
The RTD2016 first list of acts has been announced. What’s got most dance music fans excited from their initial announcement is Berlin based techno producer/DJ Matador who will be headlining the Electronic stage.
One of South Africa’s favourite music festivals is back again and will take place over four days from the 6th to the 9th of October 2016 in Darling.
The Electronic dome has and continues to be a popular drawing card for Rocking the Daisies and RTD2016 promises to be no different in its appeal.
Artists announced so far
Other artists who make up the local line up includes the legendary Mango Groove, Grassy Spark, Jimmy Nevis, DJ Invizable Computa General, Trancemicsoul, Killer Robot, Nakahne Toure, AKA, Nasty C, Moonchild Sanelly, Thieve, Red Tape Riot, Diamond Thug, F O L L O W E R, SIMMYSIMMYNA, Cassiem Latief, Kyle Mcclean, Lamagier and Tha Cutt with Lee Harvey Oswald.
The rest of the line-up will be released every week leading up to the RTD2016 festival.
Headliners
AKA has been announced as the first hip hop act to headline the main stage – it’s all a bit of pr though since there have been hip hop acts on the main stage before. Nevertheless it does signal a bit of a shift for RTD2016.
Foster the People is the main international headliner to be announces thus far as well as Eats Everything for the Beach Bar. The aforementioned Matador will no doubt be one of several electronic dome headliners
Ten Stages
RTD2016 will feature ten stages, art installations and innovative production design. The festival is known to be an all inclusive event that can be as hard core of a camping experience as you like or a comfortable glam camping long weekend with all the frills.
You will have access to hot showers, beds, and even a deck couch service if you don’t mind paying for the luxury.
If you’re in Joburg and won’t be able to make the event you will get to see some of the international acts perform in Joburg at In the City Weekend.
