Roland x Puma kick-up a second TR-808 inspired sneaker
Roland x Puma unveil designs for the new 808-inspired kicks.
Forget about band shirts and artist merchandise; we are now in the time of designer sneakers inspired by drum machines.
Earlier this year, not so long ago; Roland and Puma unveiled the design of the RS-0 sneakers as part of a reboot of their RS shoe line from the 80’s.
Now the companies are working on a second pair of sneakers for the RS range, called the RS-100, which has a more colourful design that sticks to the traditional look of a puma sneaker.
The range has been noted as “a story of reinvention” that is “inspired by the past, shaped by the colourful histories of both brands and reimagined for the future,” this collaboration is sure to have gearheads and sneakerheads run with their money.
808 Day
While the RS-100’s are black like the synths it is emulating, the newly announced RS-100 will be in orange, red and white with black accents. It has lines that mimic lights on a synthesizer, white reflective edges and the words “Rhythm Composer TR-808, Computer Composer” printed on the heel.
Most aptly, the sneakers are dropping internationally on 8 August, 2018- a day recognized as #808DAY.
Roland and Puma couldn’t have struck these similar chords at a much better time. The result is the PUMA RS-0 Roland sneaker with a cool nod to the past but very futuristic in every way.
Roland Corporation Vice President of Global Key Influencers Brian Alli added, “Roland is honoured to collaborate with PUMA, and we’re looking forward to bringing our story of musical innovation to PUMA fans worldwide.”
