A 26-track Rick and Morty album is in the works
Wubbalubbadubdub; get ready for a 26-track Rick and Morty album!
With season 4 of the cult-status show Rick and Morty underway, Adult Swim has just added some galactic icing to the mix with the announcement of a Rick and Morty soundtrack album, set for release on 28 September.
The 26-track double album will be released via Adult Swim and Sup Pop and will feature music from the show’s composer, Ryan Elder. Other tracks on the album take inspiration from the duo’s adventures and are performed by artists like Blonde Redhead, Mazzy Star, and Belly, plus two brand new tracks from Chad VanGaalen and clipping.
The album will be released in various forms including digital, vinyl, cassettes and CDs, while a deluxe version of the album will follow on November 23.
“Rikitikitavi, bitch!”
The deluxe box set features an exclusive “portal” coloured vinyl housed in a custom box with an etched plexiglass window cover inserted with LED lights to make the etching glow.
It also includes a custom poster, a patch, a sticker and a bonus 7” single that features an extended mix of the screaming sun from season 2’s finale.
Rick and Morty’s cult status continues to grow exponentially and semi rabidly. Amongst its fan base is deadmau5, who spent a casual $15 000 to buy the remaining amount of limited edition Szechuan sauce from McDonald’s that was featured in the show.
Earlier this year, Rick and Morty was renewed for a further 70 new episodes, further cementing their staying power.
Listen to the album cut ‘Goodbye Moonman’ below, produced by Jemaine Clement and Ryan Elder.
Buckle up for the Rick and Morty album, set for release on 28 September.
