RED BULL BEAT BATTLE continues to set the benchmark for street dance in 2013
The Red Bull Beat Battle started out as a platform for street dance in South Africa three years ago and returns in 2013 to once again showcase the best in local dance crew talent.
The contest is not only a visual feast for the eyes, but also musically for the ears and spirits of those who attend.
Each year they find the seven best urban dance crews in genres across the board who will take on the defending champions. This year the reigning champs are ‘The Reptilez’ and the final will take place in May 2013.
The Red Bull Beat Battle qualifiers/judges will visit 5 cities – Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Hopeful crews will have to impress the judges at each of the qualifiers from which the top seven crews in the country will be hand-picked.
Qualifier dates and venues are as follows:
• Cape Town – 23 February 2013, Joseph Stone Auditorium
• Port Elizabeth – 2 March 2013, PEMADS Little Theatre
• Durban – 9 March 2013, BAT Centre
• Pretoria – 16 March 2013, The State Theatre
• Johannesburg – 23, 24 March 2013 The Alexander Theatre
The crews will then have around two months to prepare to go toe-to-toe against ‘The Reptilez’ who took the crown in 2012 in the Red Bull Beat Battle final in Johannesburg last year.
Crews who are eager, have to register for the audition first to in order to compete for the Red Bull Beat Battle crown.
