Rapper AKA says ‘Touch my Blood’ will be his last album
South African rapper AKA wants to quit music.
AKA is releasing his third studio album in May, titled Touch My Blood, which the rapper says will be his last.
This comes as a huge shock for fans that have been following him since his first single Victory Lap which debuted in 2011- that’s a long road of rhythms and rhymes.
Speaking to TimesLIVE his manager Tshiamo Letwene confirmed the news:
“Yup. This is it. This is his last album. He wants to do other things with his life beyond music. He is a father and a businessman. He has a company to run and he will be focusing on that and other projects. He will always be AKA and will dip in and out of music,” Letswene said.
AKA goodbye, AKA cheers
The music industry is fickle- one day you’re in, the next day you’re out and so to eliminate that possibility he has used his name to start another business, Beam Digital, which can garner him income despite what’s happening in the music industry.
“People need to become owners,” he told the TshishaLIVE, explaining his reasons for venturing into business. “We’ve been bled dry for way too long. It’s time for us to smarten up and realize we can’t sing songs forever. What am I going to do—perform and perform for the next five years?”
Gigging every weekend may be great money, but it is a strenuous lifestyle, especially if you have a family, which he does.
Although you can never trust a musician who says they’re quitting music forever, I’m sure fans won’t mind if he makes an appearance here or there or even a comeback.
Rapper AKA will release his third (and last) album, Touch My Blood in May.
