Protoculture Versiform – brand new album released
Protoculture Versiform Part One is the brand-new album by one of South Africa’s most accomplished
dance music producers.
Nate Raubenheimer, better known as ‘Protoculture,’ is one of our best electronic music exports taking the world by storm, playing alongside the best in the business to sold-out shows.
And now, he introduces his fifth studio album, a two-parter called Versiform, out now.
Versiform means to change in form, something always prevalent in music and especially in terms of Nate as an artist, who has always pushed his own personal musical boundaries creatively, leading him to constant musical evolution.
The album is helmed by tracks such as 'The Descent' – a top favourite of Armin van Buuren himself –
‘Secret Weapon’ (feat. Sue McLaren) and 'Thirty Three South; making it clear that Nate has enjoyed a
fruitful time in the studio.
The 9-track album showcases glistening Vocal Trance cuts and masterfully crafted instrumentals, which centres an amazing new side to his production skill sure to appeal to the Trance crowd in exciting ways.
Progress is power
While Protoculture Versiform Part One encompasses his melodic and more gentle, progressive productions, Part Two sticks to the theme by changing styles and delving into something different, something darker and more underground.
Protoculture: “I’ve always been a bit of a shape shifter in the studio, so when we were brainstorming for possible album titles and stumbled onto ‘Versiform’, we knew it would fit splendidly. As for explaining the difference between part one and part two, I’ve been producing a ton of music for both my Protoculture moniker and Shadow Chronicles project, which means I’ve been working on a lot of different styles. I thought it made sense to split the album in two parts to allow for a cohesive selection of tracks in both parts in terms of style and sound,” he told Broadway World in an interview.
