Playmoss launches subscription service
Playmoss is launching a new subscription service which allows you to playlist all your favourites from Vimeo, Soundcloud, and YouTube in one place.
The Barcelona based site’s new subscription tool is for promoters, bands, labels, and more. As a fan this will be a new way for you to listen to and support all of the musicians and record labels that you love.
By making use of Playmoss, you can ‘follow’ an artist on the site for a fee that has been set by whichever artist you follow.
As part of the exchange, the musicians you follow will offer up exclusive music and albums. You will also have access to other things such as concert tickets and even merchandise through Playmoss.
The website was launched last year and has so far focused on its playlist feature. It’s a feature that allows you to tune into all of your favourite music streaming sites without jumping from site to site. The benefit is that you as the listener get to comfortably stay in one place instead of having a few different tabs open. You can choose to pay your subscription fees monthly, quarterly or annually.
And now you will be able to keep up with your favourite musicians directly. The company believes this improvement to be what will make Playmoss for profitable for the artists that make use of it.
The idea for this new website grew out of a response to artists complaining about the limited amount of money that could be made from streaming. Even musicians with thousands of followers and fans experience the low profits…
“The idea originated from the artists’ complaints about the limited revenue derived from streaming, despite having thousands of fans on their social networks. If only 1% of the artists’ [social media followers] registered for a 2€ or 3€ subscription, the artist would make more than they would from all the streaming channels put together.” Said a Playmoss statement
