Watch: A Pioneer DJ documentary exploring the global festival scene
The Pioneer DJ documentary is called Under A Strobe Lit Sky.
Under A Strobe Lit sky is a documentary curated by Pioneer DJ that explores the ever-evolving music festival scene.
Every year, millions of revelers flock to festivals around the world to bare witness to massive productions, huge budgets and hundreds-if not thousands- of artists. This aint’ no backyard party with a trestle table and a few speakers.
More than a thousand take place in Britain alone every year, bringing in roughly 3.5 million revelers to experience the diverse festivals on offer.
Even the modestly sized city of Amsterdam hosted over 150 festivals in the summer of 2018. It’s no secret that festivals are more popular than ever, but is the scene becoming tired and predictable? Everyone wants a slice of the festival pie, but is the competition becoming so fierce that no one is really winning?

Than there’s the question of sustainability. With climate change looming over our heads, fun-loving festivals are fulfilling their moral obligations to be more sustainable; what qualities do they need to have to be sustainable?
Should festivals offer music solely or ramp it up with all-encompassing, multisensory entertainment? What’s the atmospheric difference between a club and a festival, and how should artists adapt they’re performances? AN important question is whether a brand can maintain their character and essence while rapidly growing?
These are all the questions explored in Under A Strobe Lit Sky, using the expert knowledge from leaders in the scene including Michael and Emily Eavis (Glastonbury Festival), Piers Aggett & Amir Amor (Rudimental), Juan Arnau (elrow), Eats Everything, Nervo, and more.
