Nyota presents Purification Project, her Trazzy fizzle new EP
Nyota presents Purification Project.
Nyota is a unique, eclectic and somewhat rebellious ‘Hip Hop’/Jazz/Trap/Soul artist hailing from Cape Town and she is far away from ‘the box’, in fact she’s annihilated it.
“See the genre don’t ever define my content/ I let my lyrics help the beat find it’s conscience,” raps Nyota in I’m Over It, off their latest EP titled Purification Project recorded at Red Bull Studios in Cape Town.
At 17 years old, Nyota’s lyrics and voice is mature beyond generations as she spits her truth through rhymes supported by a combination of jazz and trap beats in what she calls “Trazz,” the flavour of her new EP, Purification Project.
Purification project is a sequel to her 2016 release, Age of Enlightenment. And hopes it can purify mind sets and introduce them to a new vision.
Keeping that beat purely eclectic
As a Congolese-Irish-South African artist, Nyota’s diverse background and identity as an identity without limitations can be felt throughout her music.
“My identity influences my content quite a lot as it shows that I am not limited and cannot be put in a box,” Nyota states. Inspired by Tom Misch and Nicki Minaj, the artist adds, “I am very versatile. This is why a lot of my content is all about not conforming to the ways of the world. I would like listeners to be a bit more open minded, to be inspired to find themselves and be proud of who they are.”
Having a space to record really makes a difference, which is something that Nyota experienced by working at the Red Bull Studios in Cape Town.
