DJ Obi from Nigeria has played the longest set ever 

DJ Obi who hails from Nigeria has played the longest set ever documented and he is now just waiting for the authentication from Guinness World Records.

In an effort to achieve prestige of some sort he played an exhausting DJ set of more than ten days.

The Guinness World Record for the ‘Longest Marathon Club DJing’ was previously held by Norbert Selmaj, a DJ from Poland who plays under the pseudonym Norberto Loco. The Polish DJ set his record back in 2014 after he played a two hundred hour set in Dublin, Ireland.

A new record holder

His spot was taken by DJ Obi, real name Obi Ajuonuma. The Nigerian DJ played a set that lasted two hundred and twenty nine hours and fifty eight minutes. This puts him nearly thirty hours ahead of the previous title holder.

DJ Obi played his ten day long set in Lagos and he had fans and supporters cheering him on throughout. He took a two hour break each day which happened in little bursts. Witnesses have even reported that they saw DJ Obi hallucinate during his set. You could say that DJ Obi did it for Africa as now a Nigerian DJ holds the longest set ever record.

Also Nigeria’s best DJ

DJ Obi has also previously won an award for Best DJ at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in 2011.

“DJ Obi has been overjoyed by the love, support, encouragement and prayers he has received in the past ten days. Supporters have showed up by the thousands, and messages have poured in from every corner of the world. It has been a 24-hour party at Sao Café Lagos since last Wednesday! If there is one word we are sure he would want you to leave you with it is, ‘grateful’.” Said DJ Obi’s team in a statement

While the facts are in, they are still waiting for verification from Guinness World Records so that the final authentication can be declared. Soon, DJ Obi will be able to put that he, as a Nigerian DJ played the longest set ever.
