New Nicolas Jaar studio album ‘Sirens’ announced
The new Nicolas Jaar studio album has been announced, and it is titled ‘Sirens’. A month ago, Nicolaas alluded to the fact that he had a new album coming after posting a photo that hinted at an upcoming release.
The existence of the ‘Sirens’ album was recently confirmed through his Facebook page. It will be available online on the 30th of September on the artist’s Other People record label, and it will be a total of forty two minutes across six tracks.
This follow up album comes after his 2011 studio album titled ‘Space is Only Noise’. Jaar, has not been releasing studio albums since then but he definitely has been busy.
Back in 2013 he released ‘Psychic’ with Dave Harrington under his now defunct Darkside project. Then last year he also released an album version of his alternative film score to 1969’s The Color of Pomegranates called Pomegranates, in addition to his Nymphs series and a single for R&S.
About Nicolas Jaar
Nicolas Jaar is a music producer, mixing engineer, and DJ, originally from Chile. Previously, he has also responded to what he feels is the “exploitative sampling of Latin American culture by white European DJs”.
In 2010 his response to the exploitation was to release two tracks where he sang in his native Spanish language. These tracks he never intended for release since they were made for fun, but he ended up putting them out there anyway.
He spent his earlier years in the business in the underground scene in New York and came up with rough, hip hop-esque house music.
The new studio album won’t be out for a few more days but Nicolas Jaar hosted a listening party in New York for a lucky few.
Nicolas Jaar also has a solid North American tour roster to promote this new release. He has a steady flow of gigs from now all the way through to December.
