Nasty C and Dj Maphorisa collaborate with Major Lazer
Nasty C and DJ Maphorisa are two of South Africa’s most rocking artists right now.
They have collaborated with US supergroup Major Lazer to produce a track titled “Particula,” which will be featured on their latest EP.
“Particula” was released on Thursday and has received acclaim from critics all over the world.
South Africa recently enjoyed seeing Diplo live but it appears that he was here to do more than just perform.

DJ Maphorisa spoke to TshisaLIVE about how the idea of the track was conceived long ago but was cemented now during Diplo’s visit here.
They had been talking over email for a while and then when Diplo was down he suggested they release the track on Major Lazer’s new EP as “Major Lazer and DJ Maphorisa.”
“Diplo and I have been talking and exchanging ideas over email for a while. Particula has actually existed for almost a year now, I always knew it was a special record and was waiting for the right time to put it out.
When Diplo suggested we put it out together as Major Lazer & DJ Maphorisa it was the ideal scenario,” he said.

The track opens up with a minute long verse from Nasty C and follows with appearances from Nigerian recording artists Jidenna and Ice Prince.
“Particula” is a showcase of the African spirit.
Major Lazer’s album, titled “Know No Better” is an amalgamation of different cultures and the dance music they represent, including the sounds of Brazil.
Diplo fell in love with South Africa during his last visit here, especially in terms of the music produced here.
In an interview with The Guardian UK he opened up about his feelings towards South African house:
“Well, when I go to South Africa and go to a ghetto party, the kids there love Masters at Work and they’ll be playing house music, but the music they’re making is still definitely African as f%^k. You can’t take that out of the people.”
Featuring on a major US album is great exposure for Nasty C and DJ Maphorisa and will boost South African house music.
