Mzansi Kwaito and House Awards nominations
Mzansi Kwaito and House Awards got its host with the most!
The news of DJ Sbu being chosen to host the awards was first shared on MKHA’s Facebook page, and then Sbu expressed his delight to local media, saying:
“I’m really humbled and grateful for the work the awards are doing to preserve kwaito. It’s important for us to know that we have nothing to prove [by] saying kwaito is dead because most of the new artists today are influenced by kwaito.”
Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards PR and communications officer said: “Having DJ Sbu host the awards will motivate and inspire upcoming musicians who come from different townships to work harder to achieve their dreams.”
Though organisers initially announced kwaito artist Zola as host, the ‘Don’t Cry’ hitmaker pulled out of hosting duties for undisclosed reasons.
