Music Stories – Facebook’s new music post format
Music Stories is Facebook’s new music post format and it has just been launched. Facebook has managed its growth along with other social media channels by constantly innovating and improvising what they have on offer.
Now they have Music Stories which will serve as a neat new post format that you can have fun with. On the Facebook iPhone app, songs and albums shared from other music services will become your ‘Music Stories’.
This post format will allow you to post a thirty second preview of the song or album that you would like to share with your friends on Facebook.
For now, you can only stream a preview from either Spotify or Apple Music. The music can also be bought from or saved to whichever streaming service.
The Music Stories previews from iTunes and Apple Music will be available directly through the Facebook iPhone app. If your friends enjoy the thirty second sample then they will have the option of clicking on the music to hear the full track or album. They will also be able to add it to their music libraries or buy the music on the iTunes store. The Spotify Music Stories will also be available through Facebook and you’ll be able to stream the full tracks or albums by clicking on the preview.
They plan on expanding this new post format to support other music streaming services soon. Facebook clearly does not want to be left behind in the streaming wars and seems to be steadily hitching their wagon on to all of the horses in the race.
I share music on Facebook all the time and the Music Stories post concept makes that habit a legitimate feature and gives it an identity.
If you are going to be streaming music then Facebook wants to ensure that you have a good reason to share that experience with your Facebook friends. And, by doing so Facebook does not get left behind while you enjoy your music streaming experience.
Will you be using Music Stories?
