Spotify SA reveals the top streamed artists and tracks in SA one month after going live.

After a whirlwind first month live, the numbers are out, and Spotify can now provide some insight into South African music fans’ musical tastes.

International super star Drake has come out on top as both the most streamed artist and having the most streamed track, with his smash hit God’s Plan.

Other international artists getting major ‘air play’ include Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, The Weekend and Ed Sheeran.

The results also show how South African music tastes vary from city to city.

For instance South African-based Nigerian rapper Mckay was ranked the top artist streamed among Capetonian fans, while rapper XXXTENTACION was the most streamed artist in Port Elizabeth over this period.

Other local artists getting Spotify ‘air play’ include Jeremy Loops, Shekhinah, Goldfish, DJ Maphorisa, Nasty C and more.
