Migos Joburg fiasco, Mabala Noise responds
Mabala Noise seem never to be too far away from contentious issues and this weekend’s Migos concert has left concert-goers irate.
According to reports fans were left waiting for three hours before Migos finally performed. To add to the woes of the crowd there were no other performances to keep them entertained!
Riky Rick kicked things off at 7PM and thereafter…. Nothing.
Close on 3 hours passed with zero activity onstage before Nasty C stepped onstage at 10PM and then Migos after that.
The crowd booed and hissed and got progressively angrier, no wonder considering Mabala Noise had promised them “an opening line-up of over 10 local acts” including Babes Wodumo, Gigi Lamayne and DJ Tira. None of these acts performed!
Official Response
Here’s Mabala Noise’s official statement on the Migos Joburg fiasco. At R 790 a ticket concert-goers are not pleased.
“We would like to thank all the fans and supporters who came out to The Dome on Saturday to the Migos SA Tour.” says Mabala Noise spokesperson Sikhulile Nzuza.
“Just after 7pm on Saturday evening a massive storm descended on Johannesburg significantly impacting some of the access control points and the electronic accreditation systems.
In the best interests of public safety, the VOC made the decision to pause the live performances until such time as the access points were operating effectively and the safety of patrons could be assured. The safety of the fans was paramount. The time taken to ensure that the event could continue safely caused the delay to the concert schedule and timings had to be adjusted accordingly.
All booked South African artists were backstage and made aware of the situation. Migos went on stage at their scheduled time slot and performed their full set.”
