Midem launches Markets Programme focussing on the African music industry
Midem launches Markets Programme to strengthen the African music industry.
On Tuesday, 13 March Midem announced its launch of its high-potential Markets Programme designed to assist music professionals from around the world in developing business and the discovery of new talent.
The Programme aims to strengthen the exchange between national and international executives and sectors in order to facilitate the structuring of high-potential markets.
In 2018, the Programme will focus on the African music industry with a 4-day ‘African Forum’ taking place during Midem (June 5-8 in Cannes), which will preceded by a series of industry meetings across 4 African countries, namely The Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa and the Republic of Congo.
When it comes to music, Africa is where it’s at and this programme is all about structuring the African music industry and forming ties between African and international music stakeholders, developing sustainable business models for labels and artists in order to boost African music locally and internationally.
It’s time for Africa to shine!
“Africa has incredible wealth in terms of musical talent and diversity of musical styles but the continent currently represents just 2% of the world music market,” comments Alexandre Deniot, Director of Midem.
Midem will be partnering with TRACE to bring the ‘African Forum’ to fruition.
“We bring together Midem’s power as an international music business acceleration platform, with our expertise in afro urban music, along with our local knowledge and excellent relationship with our subscribers in Africa,” TRACE CEO Olivier Laouchez said.
Midem launches Markets Programme, an ‘African Forum’ as the African music industry continues to grow and spread its groove throughout the world.
