Metro FM DJ Rashid Kay recovers from a brutal hijacking ordeal
Beloved Metro FM DJ Rashid Kay went through a traumatic 4-hour hijacking ordeal.
No one should experience the fear of being held at gunpoint. Wondering whether it is your time to die or if you’ll live to see your loved ones once again is a scarring feeling.
On Saturday, Rashid was hijacked outside his mother’s house in the South of Johannesburg.
They forced him face down on the back seat of his car and proceeded to beat him with their weapons.
They then drove to a different location where they changed cars.
Rashid told publications that the hijackers removed his vehicle’s tracking device before stripping him naked and leaving him forlorn in nearby bushes.
Keep calm during the storm
In such volatile situations anything becomes a trigger for them to pull the trigger.
As difficult as it is, the best thing to do is to keep calm and co-operate. At the end of the day you’d rather be without car then without life.
Rashid reflected: “I kept telling them to take whatever they wanted but not kill me. I co-operated as much as I could but even when I lifted my head a little, they would beat me until I had large bumps all over my head.”
When he understandably struggled to open his iPhone with his iCloud address they got so livid that they were on the verge of killing him.
Sadly, South Africans are no strangers to the idea or even the experience of hijacking,
A week prior, Miss SA Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was victim to an attempted hijacking in Johannesburg but she managed to escape their clutched and find safety.
We wish you a peaceful recovery, Rashid Kay, and may karma deal with them in a just way.
