Matthias Meyer at the Watergate Nacht event in Johannesburg
Matthias Meyer will be playing at the Watergate Nacht event at ERA in Cape Town tonight and in Johannesburg tomorrow at King Kong. Watergate is a famous Berlin night club in the popular Kreuzberg area of the city known the world over for its quality techno music.
Artists such as Sven Vath , Richie Hawtin Trentemoller, Dixon , Solomun, Seth Troxler, Heidi, Black Coffee, Mandy, Ellen Allien, Nicolas Jaar, and Nina Kraviz have played there.
Matthias Meyer, Marco Resmann, La Fluer and Robin Drimalski are Watergate resident DJs and achieved worldwide recognition for their sets.
Watergate is embarking on another African tour, a move that continues to strengthen the connection between the rich Berlin scene and the increasingly expanding sectors of various African dance music scenes.
Matthias Meyer is from Hamburg in Germany and came up in the business in the diverse Hamburg night life scene. With the Sfunkt DJ collective he organised events that imparted the message of electronic music to an area that could do with the difference in taste and style.
He released his debut track ‘Reichenbach’ in 2006 on Liebe, a respected Hamburg record label.
Reichenbach reflected the variety of influences that shaped his take on production; particularly innovation of Detroit techno and the experimental nature of the ‘fresh face’ German electronic dance music movement.
If you are into experiencing Berlin quality techno in your own city be sure to make it to the Matthias Meyer tour events in Cape Town or Joburg.
