Mariah Carey makes a statement about her fail of a NYE performance
Mariah Carey is insisting that Dick Clark Productions, long time producers of the NYE show sabotaged her performance for ratings.
When watching the video of the performance it’s clear that there is some technical mishap. But Mariah completely forgot to sing at certain points too, letting the backing track do it for her. This made it clear to everyone watching, that the once great vocalist was in fact doing a very bad job of lip synching.
Now, in the aftermath she is putting the blame squarely on the organisers.
Her audio tweet…
“It turned into an opportunity to humiliate me. It’s a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues who chose to capitalize on circumstances beyond our control. It’s not practical for a singer to sing live and be able to hear themselves properly in the middle of Times Square with all the noise, the freezing cold, the smoke from the smoke machine and thousands of people celebrating, especially when their ear monitors were not working at all. Listen guys: they foiled me. Thus, it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to ring in the New Year with me,” said ” said Mariah in an audio message on Twitter.
First of all, she needs to address the issue of her twitchy fame hungry manager who continues to prove how clueless she is at artist managing.
Secondly, no seasoned performer goes on to perform, whether lip synching or not, without doing a proper sound check. If you are a world class performer, you do your due diligence and have your technical team check with the venue’s technical team that everything is in place.
Making Twitter the platform where you release your official statement and play the blame game is another sad sack idea.
No one is humiliating you Mariah, you’re doing it all on your own. It may be a good idea to take a break from “media and social media” as you said you would. Go enjoy your money girl, and let one of your thirsty back up dancers oil you down why you lay on a beach somewhere with a glass of champagne in your hand.
