Major League DJz had their car broken into at a gig
The twin duo known as Major League DJz had their car broken into recently while at a gig. Brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere took to their Twitter profile to share their dismay.
Reportedly their car window was smashed and the thieves made off with their equipment and cellphones. They are insisting that a big part of the problem is that artists don’t have their own parking. They were playing at the PowerPlay Griffin Sessions in Braamfontein when the robbery took place.
Check out their tweets below:
“Smashed a whole door window for cellphones and equipment. Sigh”
“Artist parking is very important! Parking thugs smashed our window of our v class while we were inside the venue about to play.”
“All our phones were stolen last night in Braamfontein from our car. Still trying to recover everything. If you need any of us, please DM.”
A few weeks ago, Big Brother star Lexi Van Niekerk had her car broken into while at an event in Sandton. The twins may have a valid point regarding the safety and security of performers at events.
The Major League DJz were born in Boston, USA and moved to South Africa post-apartheid. Their new age Kwaito sound has made them one of the top DJ contenders in SA. They are known for their Urban Breeze events in the Alexandra Township. They are also known for being the official DJs for Khuli Chana and Soul Candi event organisers. They represent the up and coming school of young DJs. They have also put out weekly mixes for uKhozi FM and Mafikeng FM and were hired as ambassadors for the McDonald’s Street Rhythm campaign.
They have hosted events for artists such as Akon, Fat Joe, and 50 Cent. They have also shared the stage with DJ Woo Kid, DJ Fresh, Roger Goode, Euphonik, DJ Trauma, and DJ Drama.
