New Apple MacBook Pro Touch Bar has a piano app
The new Apple MacBook Pro Touch Bar has a piano app. This is one of the first instruments designed for the new MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar.
The Macbook Pro Touch Bar will allow you to play one hundred and twenty eight varying instruments from the narrow space that is the Touch Bar. This is at the top of the new MacBook Pro keyboard, it also does nothing useful on other Macs.
It is essentially a polyphonic keyboard and the response is a mixture of excitement and disgust.
According to Apple…
“Touch Bar Piano is a piano built into the Touch Bar of your 2016 MacBook Pro. The piano is fully polyphonic and has a choice of 128 different instruments. This app requires a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. It does nothing useful on other Macs.”
Apple caused a big uproar when they unveiled the new MacBook Pro in October and they announced that traditional USB ports would be replaced with USB-C ports. The argument over whether or not Apple is a true innovative company or just a strategic profit driven giant is one that Apple fans and naysayers disagree over constantly.
Even worse, this new little feature has also hiked up the price considerably of the new model, when compared to the older models.
The MacBook Pro Touch Bar is compatible with the Algoriddim Djay Pro DJ software. The size and location of the Touch Bar raises concerns over its utility value.
It appears as though the Touch Bar is nothing more than a gimmick to incentivize the sale of the new MacBook Pro. Due to its size, it’s hard to guess the seriousness and usefulness of the Macbook Pro Touch Bar. If the usefulness of the MacBook Pro Touch Bar can be guaranteed for musicians then it may have an actual feature outside of being a glittery and shiny add on.
