New imprint, Kulture Lab, releases compilation in support of The Haven Night Shelter
Kulture Lab is a new DIY Label from Cape Town and they have released a compilation EP called ‘Periodic Index 1’to support The Haven Night Shelter.
‘Periodic Index 1’ is both their debut release and it marks the launch of a new Cape Town-based electronic music label.
The EP is due to be released on Thursday 17th December 2020 and will be available exclusively on Bandcamp.
‘Periodic Index 1’ explores a fusion of genres such as bass, breakbeat, jungle and other eclectic styles of high energy dance music, immersing the listener in an experience that is non-compliant to a single genre or the norms of electronic music.
All proceeds will be donated to The Haven Night Shelter, a Cape Town- based welfare organization.
Artists featured on ‘Periodic Index 1’
Aberrant – ‘Soup Stamp’
Having been introduced to electronic music in the more recent years of his life Aberrant has since exposed himself to a myriad of events and genres that have helped further his appreciation and understanding of electronic music and culture.
Akkadian – ‘Rituals’
A fanatic for the left-field and obscure, Akkadian’s ongoing musical journey began with a chest of vinyl records from his family home in Johannesburg, which led to him pursuing music from a young age by taking up piano and guitar. His interests gradually gravitated towards electronic music production and his journey has now brought him to the Mother City, Cape Town.

This project by Akkadian and tipp.exe is the culmination of months of lockdown exploring themes of seclusion and solitude.
Fear & Self Loathing – ‘komskom’
Comprising of Dan and Rheece (Aberrant and tipp.exe), this duo shares a passion and taste for atypical productions and alternative electronic music that inspires and keeps them working to achieve a sound that is not associated with conservatism.
Qi M0N0 – ‘Pecha Kucha’
Qi M0N0 hails from Amsterdam, known as ‘the girl in the kimono.’
Having experienced a deep connection to music and to sharing it with others, Pecha Kucha is a product of her shift in focus during lockdown to connect with the audience in a different realm of creative expression.
tipp.exe – ‘Standard deviation’
After growing up on a strict diet of alternative rock and indie, tipp.exe started exploring electronic music in 2016 and quickly changed the focus of his music productions to suit this newfound passion.
