Israeli-South African artist, Oshri sings to Akon’s label
Konvict Muzik has signed Oshri Elmorich.
They say it’s all about timing, which is something that Israeli-South African songbird Oshri Elmorich has recently experienced first-hand.
The talented artist went from being unrecognised to being completely recognised by an international super star- Akon- and signing a record deal with his label, Konvict Muzik.
Oshri’s journey began after winning the TRACE Music Stars competition, which had him move to the USA and start being mentored by international artist Wyclef Jean.
Oshri opened up to TshisaLIVE about how Akon walked in on him rehearsing in the studio, setting off this most fortunate series of events:
The Konvict you want to be!
“Akon walked in while I was in rehearsals, I didn’t know he was there. But I heard when I started singing, the room went quiet and he (Akon) asked who I was. Then we started a conversation and next thing I knew, I was signed!”
“Since that miraculous meeting, I’ve met with him many times. I went to Kenya with him and many other places then flew to Atlanta where we signed the official documents there. We had to get to know each other and make sure we are on the same page. He advised me on things like my music direction and brand. We’ve had interviews together and he keeps saying our relationship is more than ‘just a collaboration’ the picture he has is so big!”
Oshri plans to release his EP later this year, but for now fans can check out his singles, Bad Reputation, Crazy But Free and Too Much.
