KMD has announced Crack In Time, their first album in 25 years
It has been 25 years since legendary crew, KMD released an album and it’s Crack in Time on time! 🙂
You can have a taste of what they have in store with their new track ‘True Lightyears’ which features Jay Electronica at the end of this feature.
The track is featured in The Missing Notebook Rhymes, a DOOM project in partnership with Adult Swim.
The series promises music from upcoming DOOM projects– which is a huge deal considering KMD’s history.
KMD featured DOOM (previously known as Zev Love X), his brother DJ Subroc and Onyx the Birthstone Kid, debuting with the album Mr. Hood.
However the group quickly dissolved following the sudden death of Subroc as well as the cancellation of their second album Black Bastard, which was mainly due to its controversial cover art.
Black Bastards was released in 2001 and reissued in 2015 with an expansion of its original artwork.
True Lightyears
‘True Lightyears’ is the second track in the 15-song DOOM project The Missing Notebook Rhymes, with plan to release a track per week over the next 13 weeks.
Lightyears also doubles as the first single from their upcoming album Crack In Time.
Doom, who is known for his villainous mask and alter-ego, makes a full-circle return with the origin story that provoked his rebirth.
Jay Electronica, a hip-hop recluse in his own right joins DOOM on the track.
DOOM’s liquid flows paint the picture of the reality of his vengeance with the music industry that is so long in the making.
