Cape Town Producer Kay Faith is Apple Music Spotlight Artist for Jan
Kay Faith has made waves with her debut release, “In Good Faith.”
It’s one thing to be recognized in your local community, but to be named Artist of the month on one of the biggest streaming platforms, Apple Music, is next level.
What shoots this accolade out of the stratosphere is the fact that Kay is the first female producer featured on this platform, as well as being one of the few females in a male-dominated industry like hip hop.
Her debut EP, “In Good Faith” came out on 11 September, 2017, and features an array of talented artists in the hip hop scene including Uno July, Patty Monroe, Ginger Trill and Youngsta CPT.
Her production skills are simply DOPE and are reminiscent of old school hip hop.
In Good Faith
Kay, whose real name is Karien Barnard, hails from Knysna and attended The Cape Audio College in Observatory, shares her elation:
“I am delighted to be getting the love I am getting from Apple Music. I have to say I never saw this coming but I am very excited that it is happening. Apple music is one of the biggest music streaming platforms in world and the stamp of approval goes a long way in making sure that more people get to from my debut EP “In Good Faith”. Huge thanks to Apple Music.”
This mega-merited boost from Apple Music will hopefully catapult her career to new heights, which she so deserves.
The body of work making up “In Good Faith” is a carefully crafted masterpiece that is undeniably one of the best releases we’ve heard in ages.
Not only is Kay faith a female producer in a hugely misogynist industry, she’s without doubt one of the most talented hip hop producers this country has and she’s so young!!!
It’s going to be amazing to see how Kay Faith grows as an artist, check out her EP, In Good Faith.
