K.O nominated for a KORA Award
K.O has been nominated for a 2016 Namibian KORA award in the ‘Best Hip Hop’ category for ‘Skhanda Love’ featuring South African singer, Nandi Mngoma. And it’s been just over a year since he released ‘Skhanda Republic’, his solo debut album.
‘Skhanda Love’ is a sweet little love song about having a partner who will stand by you and support you no matter how tough it gets. The track has also been dubbed the number one love song in South Africa for 2015. The video for the track supports the theme and was released a short while after the single was released and received great reviews. The music video for ‘Skhanda Love’ has more than one million views on YouTube.
This album has done well so far spinning out a good number of hit tracks. And in the meantime K.O has been on the receiving end of three awards this year for his debut album.
One notable award that he received was for ‘Caracara’ in the ‘Record of the Year’ category at the South African Music Awards XXI (SAMA).
K.O has also recently come back from doing a publicity tour in the United Kingdom. He is excited about his KORA award nomination and believes it to be a win not only for himself as an artist but for the rest of the local hip hop scene too.
“It’s such a humbling gesture for me as a SA hip hop artist from the shanty streets of Mpumalanga to be acknowledged on such a huge platform. We are planning to work tirelessly to make sure we bring this one home, and this would not only be a K.O win but one for SA and a strong message from the SA hip hop community to the continent and beyond that we are here to stay!” said K.O
