Jub Jub talks about prison life on his new album
Jub Jub is going all in with his new album, sharing his experiences while in prison. He wants to open up and show how the experience has helped him evolve as an individual and as a musician.
The rapper is out on parole after serving a sentence for a culpable homicide conviction. He crashed his car into a group of school kids and killed four of them.
He has been working with Jaziel Brothers on the future of Jub Jub’s music and the direction he will be taking with it. Reportedly, they have been having meetings where they have discussed the future of his music.
Ndikhokhele is the first song on which Jub Jub and the Jaziel brothers worked together. This was followed by Phind’ukhulume and is a blend of rap and gospel. The spiritual influence of religion on his music is indicative of where he is at.
He is also using his music to “familiarise himself with the world again”. It is the hope that with the Jaziel Brothers, Jub Jub can relaunch his career and get back into the charts. Without an official statement, Move magazine has reported that Jub Jub is working on music that will detail his time in lock up.
This album will include ‘Ke Kopa Tshwarelo’ the forgiveness track. The album will be produced by the Jaziel Brothers who will also feature throughout the release.
Pablo Sehloho, Jub Jub’s friend and business partner told Tshisa LIVE that the local artist is set on continuing his work as a musician after his release from prison.
“His music has changed. He has grown because of his experiences and now wants to make music that people can really relate to. He no longer uses the same references about life. He is more responsible and wants to make a difference through his music,” said Sehloho.
