Jamiroquai about to release first new album in seven years
Jamiroquai has teased a new music video for their first album released in a lengthy seven years. They have also announced tour dates for this year.
The album is titled ‘Automation’ and going by the twenty three second clip, the first track seems as groovy as it is futuristic.
The synth heavy clip reveals a sound that is eccentric and funky along with the quintessential Jamiroquai vocals. Hopefully the release won’t disappoint all the old fans and perhaps create a few new ones. The sound gives off a sci-fi mood that is reminiscent of Daft Punk. They may be moving from funk and disco to music that has evolved into something that could be the soundtrack of our future selves.
In the short, Jay Kay explores a variety of dystopian locations while the tune builds up into a futuristic beat. If you have been a longtime fan of Jamiroquai you will recognize the headgear worn by the frontman. The headgear also appears to feature flashing rave lights. The major technological upgrades are obvious and also thrilling.
It is going to be exciting to se what Jamiroquai does with their sound as they lead us into the last three years preceding 2020. Their timing couldn’t be more perfect actually, without being to obvious. They are known and loved for their take on a sound that is based in funk and disco music.
They are disco revivalists who offered a taste of electronic music that had a powerful crossover appeal. You couldn’t go anyway in the nineties and early two thousands without hearing their jams all over the place.
Jamiroquai are popularly known for gems such ‘Virtual Insanity’, ‘Cosmic Girl’, ‘Space Cowboy’.
