The Jameson Indie Channel music video grant
This summer the Jameson Indie Channel plan on getting better involved in the local music and film communities.
They are offering sponsorship to a deserving local director in this statement…
“We know producing a music video is usually a labour of love, and getting the necessary funding can feel like drawing blood out of a stone. So, in order to bring the next killer video idea into existence, we’re offering R100 000 to the director with the most fearlessly authentic concept. That ought to make things a little easier. The INDIE Channel team will oversee things without getting involved, simply to ensure delivery on schedule. The team has some worthwhile experience in terms of directing and project management, so they will gladly assist at any point in the process. The point is that we’re here to help, not meddle in the creative process.”
If you are a local director and keen on the idea of creating a fully sponsored music video then you will first have to find a musical collaborator and secure a track that was recorded in the last six months. The song featured in the music video has to be South African and should not already have a video.
It’s open to all genres and the concept for the Jameson Indie Channel sponsored video is fair game, as long as you already have the permission from the artist.
When you submit your proposal along with the treatment for the music video then it will be assumed that you followed these guide lines.
As a director you will have the responsibility of finding a team to work with, this includes a producer who will manage the production and its finances. If you are the director and the producer, that will also be accepted.
The total production budget will be covered in full, all equipment, locations, crew etc will need to be sourced, managed, and paid for by the production team.
You have until the end of January to forward the Jameson Indie Channel your proposal. You have to submit one page with your written proposal and one page for a visual mood board.
Submit these by email as a PDF, along with a digital audio file/link to the track you’ll be using. They are looking an original inspired music video concept, so don’t be afraid to show them what you’re working with.
