Instagram influencer sues Netflix over Fyre Festival doccie footage
Instagram influencer sues Netflix! Yup you read that right…
Instagram influencer and model Clarissa Cardenas is suing Netflix and Fuck Jerry Media for copyright infringement.
Although Fyre Festival is extinguished, it has now formed hot coals of drama that seems never ending.
Clarissa Cardenas is an Instagram model and influencer who is taking legal action (suing) both Netflix and Fuck Jerry Media for copyright infringement in the documentary FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.
According to the complaint Cardenas filed in a New York federal court last month, Netflix and co-producer Jerry Media are being sued for allegedly using one of her original videos of the disastrous Fyre Fest in the highly-watched documentary without her permission.
This would be an infringement of her exclusive right as the copyright holder.
Cardenas claims she received a copyright registration for the video at issue in December 2018, which I’m deducing she didn’t sign.
Fuck, Jerry (and Netflix)
Cardenas will now be seeking damages of at least $150,000 and has asked the court to order Jerry and Netflix to provide her with an account of all profits made from the documentary.
Furthermore, she feels that Netflix and Jerry Media should be disgorged of all benefits, including monetary, they received because of the use of her video.
Further furthermore, Cardenas is seeking an injunctive relief, meaning the defendants must cease any and all use of the allegedly infringing video immediately and permanently.
This comes on the heels of backlash faced by Jerry Media founder Elliot Tebele for building a multi-million-dollar business by stealing others’ intellectual property-wait for it- including original tweets, memes, imagery and VIDEOS.
Instagram influencer Clarissa Cardenas is literally having none of it.
