Help Zolani (Freshlyground) get to San Diego to record with Goldfish
Help Zolani Thundafund her way to San Diego.
Her voice has serenaded us for over a decade with the hot act Freshlyground, but now it’s time for Zolani to soar with her solo wings.
And I mean literally soar, on an aeroplane to San Diego, where she has the opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic duo hailing from our own SA; the jazzy fizzle jagged edge Goldfish.
But this dream doesn’t come cheap. It’ll cost her a little over R350 000 to realise her dream, so she’s enlisted the help of her fans through a crowdfunding campaign on Thundafund.
A week into the campaign and Zolani has managed to raise R81 530 so far, which is amazing. Although she still has a long way to go, she is positive that she will reach her goal.
From SA to the USA
The idea for the collaboration came into fruition earlier this year at Dom from Goldfish’s Southern Suburbs apartment in Cape Town where the plans to get Zolani to San Diego to record emerged.
This will be Zolani’s first solo track, but it will be a shame money becomes an issue.
In the crowdfunding world, her project campaign will only be considered “funded” if at least R190 000 is pledged before October 29.
She shared her gratitude on Instagram, where she spoke about the ‘heart-incentives’ you can pledge for.
She said, “You can sponsor a school a motivational talk from me, you can get me to do musical mentorship for you or someone you know young or old who could benefit from my near 2 decades of experience in the music biz!”
