Hardwell announces hiatus from music industry, including touring and releases
Hardwell announces hiatus- indefinitely.
Last week the Dutch EDM super star made a post on Facebook detailing the reasoning behind his hiatus taking.
Being on the forefront of the music industry is no walk in the park, as many artists know. The late nights, constant touring, deadlines for music, deadlines for interviews, either on the road or in the studio, alcohol and drugs party lifestyle can easily catch up with you and if you don’t slam on the brakes, you’re the one that will break.
If you think about it; we only go to festivals or clubs once a month, maybe every weekend but these artists are doing it a few times a week in different cities, countries or even continents.
So here we have Hardwell, slamming on the brakes saying that the creative health of mind and spirit is taking precedence over the pressures of the music business.
Hardwell 24/7
Speaking in the post, Hardwell said:
“Over the past few years I’ve come to know myself better and better and over time I realized that there’s still so much I want to share with my family and friends, so many roads I’d like to explore, but being Hardwell 24/7 leaves too little energy, love, creativity and attention for my life as a normal person to do so.
“This is why I have decided to clear my schedule indefinitely to be completely liberated from targets, interviews, deadlines, release dates, etc. I’ve always dealt with all the pressure that comes with the heavy touring schedule, but for now, it felt too much, like a never ending rollercoaster ride. I always try to give myself 200% and in order to keep doing that, and feeding my creativity, I need some time off to be me, the person behind the artist and reflect on everything that happened the last few years.”
He will still write music; but on his own time.
It’s an admirable move, after all we really don’t need another case like Avicii, may he rest in peace.
Hardwell announces hiatus, hello Robbert van de Corput.
