Hallucinating Durban man jumps from two-storey building
A hallucinating Durban man who was allegedly on Ecstasy jumped off the second floor of a building after experiencing hallucinations reports News24.
According to his friends he’d taken ecstasy and ‘several other drugs.’
They were driving in the car when he started to hallucinate so they stopped the car to assist.
The hallucinating Durban man then jumped out the car and ran into the building from which he later jumped.
But he didn’t simply run into the building and jump…
What transpired was that ER24 paramedics as well as some other rescue services arrived on the scene to try and appease the situation and get the guy to come down. But unfortunately when they switched on their flashlights to see better, he mistook these for firearms and in his frightened hallucinatory state decided to jump. The man, said to be in his mid-twenties, landed in an empty parking lot and sustained serious injuries.
According to ER24 spokesperson, Pieter Rossouw, it took more than 5 paramedics to restrain him even after he’d broken several bones. He was later taken to Northdale Hospital for treatment.
It’s unclear what sort of concoction the hallucinating Durban man was on other than ecstasy but it was quite likely a bad mix of drugs that caused the hysteria.
The dangers of illegal drugs
Although a lot of research has been done both for and against recreational drugs such as Ecstasy, MDMA, LSD and others, especially in the context of the obvious dangers of alcohol and the impending legalisation of marijuana in western countries, the fact remains that when these are bought illicitly from drug dealers on the street, the dangers of what you are buying are immense.
Combine that with a cocktail of different drugs and one really is taking your life into your own hands.
Bottom line; don’t do drugs but if you are going to it’s best to be well-informed / educated on them and to make sure your source is a trusted one.
