Green Day promotes new album with racy billboard
Green Day promotes new album Father OF All…. with a billboard that draws the lines at trap music…
Green Day is back with a new album, the renegade rock outfit’s 13th offering, titled Father Of All Motherfuckers. And in promoting the album they erected a racy billboard that’s naturally causing a stir on social media.
There’s literally no such thing as bad publicity. In fact, the more controversial the more gripping and honestly even though Green Day isn’t the most rock n roll band out there, their promotional billboard is as rock n roll as mainstream rock can be these days.
The advert, which was initially posted on the band’s official Twitter feed but has since been deleted, reads: “No features. No Swedish songwriters. No trap beats. 100% pure uncut rock,” underlined by lines of cocaine.
It’s not a trap
Where is the hostility towards Swedes and trap music coming from, you ask? Their message is directed at fellow 90’s/early 2000’s counterparts Blink-182 (who teamed up with The Chainsmokers) and Sum 41 (who performed at Kayzo’s show).
Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong also previously write: “Rock has lost its balls. We’re gonna teabag all these mother fuckers. The baddest rock band on the planet that gives a shit.”
As promised, Father Of All Motherfuckers boasts no collaborations and no-frills, it’s just “100% pure uncut rock.”
And, people are buying it. According to Billboard, the album looks primed to take the top spot in the UK chart, with midweek figures showing Father Of All leads sales by 14 000.
