Google update protects you from fake download buttons
The new Google update protects you from fake download buttons. In a bid to protect all of its users, Google will now be rolling out better and smarter protections against fake download buttons.
If you’re an avid downloader you will know that it can wreak havoc on your computer with all of the sneaky viruses that manage to parade themselves as genuine download buttons. Well, Google cares about the health of your computer and wants you to download in peace by protecting you from the nasty fake download buttons.
Google has improved their Safe Browsing capabilities. This means that as a browser you will find yourself being even more clued in on dodgy links when you are on a download site.
The buttons all tend to look the same and it can be all too easy to click on a virus download button and the next thing you know is, you are paying your IT guy another couple of hundred for a clean up.
An aspect that they have improved on Safe Browsing is that Google now looks out for the fake ‘download’ and ‘play’ buttons which haunt just about any downloading site in existence.
Another feature of Google’s Safe Browsing is the security check of any website you land on, often posting up a dialogue box explaining that the website you are about to enter is not safe.
If you come across a fake download button you will get a warning from Google. This will protect from accidentally downloading any malware.
It must feel like a little a gentle internet cradle of cyber love from the search engine protecting against fake download buttons. If you are a part of and into the free information movement then it may feel like Google is on your side.
