Glitch Record Player app the Shazam of album covers
The Glitch Record Player app takes you to the music via a pic of an album cover.
There truly is an app for everything. In case Shazam doesn’t suffice, the new app called Record Player allows users to find music via a picture of the album art.
Patrick Weaver of Mouse_org created the app, which is run by Glitch.
How it works:
- Take a picture of an album
- The app uses Google Cloud Vision API and the Spotify API to read said artwork
- It matches the image to its corresponding album on a streaming service like Spotify
- Users can then stream said album
Album art and about
One may wonder why download another app that serves a similar function as something like Shazam?
What sets the Glitch Record Player app apart is that you don’t have to hear the music to identify it.
Say you are in the store over the busy holiday season and you want to sneak a peak of the music before buying it- Simply snap a pic of the album art and boom, listen away.
I guess you could argue that knowing an album cover is the same as knowing the artist and album name, which you can simply look up on streaming services or even good ol’ YouTube. Well that is true, but this is an app whereby you won’t have to type in anything, and people love apps as well as snaps!
Why not see for yourself?
Check out the Glitch Record Player app and see if it is worth that storage space.
