Glastonbury 2019 won’t be stocking single-use plastics
Glastonbury 2019 is saying goodbye to single-use plastic.
Often, we feel that our little bit doesn’t make a difference, even though every little bit adds up to be a lot; you know the small step big leap analogy.
And then you have a seemingly small step for a major festival, which in turn has the power to influence it’s followers, which for Glastonbury is its 210,000 attendees.
What will Glastonbury influence this year? The prohibition of single-use plastics.
Finally, the wheel of change towards environmental responsibility has momentum, and with that we can say goodbye to plastic pollution. (hopefully soon)
NO plastic bottles will be on sale at Glastonbury 2019 at Worthy Farm, which will take place between June 26-30.
NO plastic bottles will be supplied in the festival’s backstage, production, catering, or dressing room areas.
Plastic-free paradise
While Glastonbury isn’t prohibiting festivalgoers from bringing plastic bottles on site, they are encouraging them to join the reusable bottle revolution, which can be refilled with water at numerous taps across the venue or from every bar.
In terms of purchasing drinks, the bars will offer canned soft drinks and canned Life Water instead of bottled beverages.
In a statement, festival organiser Emily Eavis said: “It’s paramount for our planet that we all reduce our plastic consumption, and I’m thrilled that, together, we’ll be able to prevent over a million single-use plastic bottles from being used at this year’s Festival. I really hope that everyone – from ticket-holder to headliner – will leave Worthy Farm this year knowing that even small, everyday changes can make a real difference. It’s now or never.”
Glastonbury 2019 is setting the bar high for environmental responsibility and hopefully this trend carries through to ALL FESTIVALS world-wide.
