German police attacked at a music festival in Darmstadt
German police attacked by drunken festivalgoers.
When the fun and games are over, people create new games that to drunken people may be fun.
We all love music festivals and sometimes wish they would go on forever, but such is not the case and we all drag our drunken asses home, or find an after party elsewhere.
When this acceptance doesn’t happen and there is a big group of people feeding off each other’s drunk and disorderly-ness, a mob mentality may ensue, sometimes leading to violence, which in this case was aimed at the police.
The festival is Schlossgrabenfest, which in itself sounds like intoxication and is held in the Hessian city of Dormstadt in Germany.
The attack took place overnight from Saturday to Sunday, with a total of 15 policemen suffering injuries from the clashes.
From fun to feisty in 0 seconds
Initial police reports attest to the arrest of 80 people, many of whom were drunk, after the violence broke out at the end of Schlossgrabenfest.
According to police, revelers randomly began throwing bottles at officers without reason and also carried out acts of vandalism; including setting a container for donated clothing alight.
They had to call in for reinforcements to quell the violence.
“The reason for the violent acts is still unclear. Investigations […] are ongoing,” police said.
The thing is that people who are drunk don’t need a reason to be dumb and violent, especially in a ‘mob mentality’ situation.
The attacks are not being taken lightly, with minimum sentences being raised from three months to 6 months.
Such attacks don’t only represent an offense against police, but also “against our constitutional state and our society,” interior minister of the state of Hesse, Peter Beuth said.
German police attacked at a Festival in Darmstadt, that’s one life-altering drunken decision.
