Gareth Emery Parody DJ Duo ridicule EDM
This Gareth Emery parody video is a five minute long dig at the superficiality and vacuous nature of much of the EDM market and its performers.
The duo depicted in the Gareth Emery parody are known as CVNT5 pronounced ‘c*nts’, and features a hand signal that mimics the opening of a vagina. While it’s clear that the Gareth Emery parody was intended to discredit the much loved EDM scene, it was a tad lazy to insult them by calling them c*nts, don’t you think?
The Gareth Emery parody is somewhat of a laugh but it is also a typical dig by boys at boys from one side of the dance music world to the other.
Clearly Emery believes that he and his trance crew are legit, which for many they are. But for others, it might be a different story altogether.
At the end of the video they feature fellow Euro trance veteran, Armin Van Buuren who innocently comments on the famous “CVNT5” duo as he calls them “interesting”. Only the interviewer corrects him in saying “no I think it is pronounced c*nts” to which Armin simply shrugs and smiles sheepishly.
The two guys who form the “CVNT5”duo is played by Gareth and producer Ashley Wallbridge. The two characters spend their time masturbating and getting scolded at by their moms before they randomly decide to become DJ/producers and hire a ghost producer to write tracks for them.
In the middle of the parody, the duo is shown playing a gig to a crazy excited audience and Gareth whips out his penis and takes a pee on one of the female fans in attendance. Her boyfriend next to her, is equally pleased by this as she is and the two fans laugh like their dreams have come true. The duo are also shown buying Twitter and Instagram followers and spending their money on obnoxious clothes and jewellery.
