First Medical Cannabis dispensary opens in Durban
South Africans are soon to have access to a Medical Cannabis dispensary.
With medical marijuana being embraced by the world, South Africans have wondered, and even marched for that same freedom in our country.
The process towards legalisation or even just discrimination is long and arduous, but there is definitely progress, especially seeing that a medical marijuana dispensary is soon to open in Durban North- the first in AFRICA; which may be shocking, but is true.
The dispensary (Holistic Relief Wellness and Pain Management Centre) operates with a twist, as you won’t be privy to a selection of different strains of buds, but rather get a prescription for different oils.
A doctor, chiropractor or traditional healer (based on your ailments) will consult with you and prescribe different strength oils (infused with cannabis) and ayurvedic ingredients.
Doctors from the Centre will only schedule 5 patients at the same time, keeping it truly healing.
Free the weed!
Canna Culture founder and chair of the KZN branch of the Cannabis Development Council of SA, Krithi Thaver, aims for the dispensary to serve as a benchmark for the soon-to-be-legalised marijuana. (Yay!)
“Our treatment regimens combine traditional medical practices in chiropractics, physiotherapy, diseases and illnesses (acute and chronic) to treat the whole body. The practitioners at this centre are all medical professionals who have thoroughly researched the extensive medical uses of cannabis and have enthusiastically embraced its potential benefits,” he said.
Additionally, he states that a growing number of studies conclude that cannabis can be used safely, with little to no negative side effects for a wide range of curative benefits of any severity.
“The global consensus is growing that the hemp crop is in fact a ‘miracle’ plant and we are immensely pleased to be able to finally offer this ‘miracle’ to Durban,” said Thaver.
The dispensary invited KZN’s health administrators and legal enforcers to attend the official opening in the near future.
As cannabis is still illegal, patients need to be referred to the Medical Cannabis Dispensary.
