Rave smiley created by Fatboy Slim using human bodies
Rave Smiley created by Fatboy Slim using human bodies at Creamfields in England. All the ravers couldn’t say no to the legendary Norman Cook when he requested that they take part in his ‘Random Act of Smileyness’.
The party people who formed the rave smiley were worn out from jamming and in dire need of sleep, yet early on in the Sunday morning they impressively all rose to attention when asked to participate.
Fatboy Slim got the idea after he checked out a YouTube video of someone doing the very same thing that inspired the rave smiley, but with sheep. Creative herding is clearly super fascinating, proving that we all enjoy being a part of something bigger and greater than just ourselves, hungover, thirsty and dry whatever it doesn’t matter.
There were enough bodies in this rave smiley to make this a record breaking attempt happen.
“Will swap selfies for your body.” said Norman when coaxing the crowd
He has taken the smiley theme even further for the summer with themed ‘Smile High Club’ festival stages featuring artists such as The Magician, Paul Woolford, Destructo, Duke Dumont, and Breach who all joined him at Creamfields.
Fatboy Slim’s ‘Smile High Club’ also featured at SW4 in London with Eats Everything, Gorgon City vs. Pete Tong, Hannah Wants, and others.
A rave smiley is an adorably epic idea and if you’re a DJ reading this and you’re playing at a festival this upcoming summer, why not be brave and give this a go? If anything it makes for interesting pictures (even if you mess up) and will probably get Fatboy Slim’s attention too. It can’t hurt to pay homage, just make sure that the crowd you’re asking to take part aren’t ‘too cool’ to join in.
