Fans not happy with SAMA 2016 nominees
The SAMA 2016 nominees were announced last week and three artists who are regularly nominated barely made it onto the list.

Cassper Nyovest and AKA’s fans lamented over Twitter due the lack of nominations for their favourite artists.
But the SAMA 2016 nominees list has also been criticized on social media over the relevance of some of the artists nominated.
Black Coffee, Zonke, newcomer rapper Emtee, Nathi, and Riky Rick are all on the coveted list.
Casspr Nyovest and AKA didn’t receive any individual nominations, instead AKA received a nomination for Best Collaboration and Best Remix while Cassper got nominated for his feature on a song with Major Leagues.
Cassper went to the trouble to explain to his confused fans just why he was not nominated. Through Twitter he explained that he chose not to submit his nomination application for the SAMA 2016 nominees list.
Nyovest tweeted:
“Thanks for all the love. Pls note we deliberately did NOT submit for these awards. I’ll explain it all through my music. Stay blessed”
Last year, Cassper let everyone know about his disappointment with not being nominated for ‘Song of the Year’. He felt that he was ‘robbed’ of said award and he questioned the criteria for the SAMA nominations.
Among this year’s SAMA 2016 nominees is Riky Rick who received a nomination for ‘Newcomer of the Year’ but his fans have argued that he is in fact not a newcomer in the local music scene.
The Ses Top La TV show also did a comedy skit depicting a silly stand-off between Cassper Nyovest and AKA.
The two rappers argue over who is the best and AKA pokes fun at Cassper’s hair piece plait, by asking him whether or not it itches.
Cassper responds with how he ‘filled up the dome’ and talks about “I’m the best, the best, the best, the best”.
