This Embarrassing DJ Stories Thread is pretty funny
These embarrassing DJ stories show you that it’s not all glitz and glam behind the decks.
LA-based bass boss Benzi started a hilarious Twitter thread that’s a safe haven for DJs to reveal their most embarrassing DJ moments.
The thread starts with Benzi’s own story of when he forgot that he was using his own edits rather than the original track when selecting ‘Memories’ by David Guetta.
In the week leading up to the gig he was messing around with the edit, playing around with the scratch and rewind sound effects, but had forgotten to take out the middle part.
This was the edit that played during his set, featuring 10 seconds of “terrible fake scratching sounds.”
The thread continues with embarrassing yet hilarious accounts of DJ misfortune, including starting a set with a drop, getting drunk and spilling on the deck- and this is all part of one story from No Mana.
Face palm moments galore
Slushii chimed in; relaying the story of when she first started using CDJs and didn’t know how to reset the tempo, leading to her playing an entire set at 180 bpm.
You’d be surprised how often the tempo switch-up happens, leaving DJs to unwittingly become ‘speedy Gonzales’.
Sometimes, it’s not your fault, like Ekali’s embarrassing DJ story of how “the sound system shut off but the booths were still cranked” so he was still “head banging on stage going absolutely ham” while the crowd stood still in silence staring at him. J
If you’re looking for some comedic relief and validation that we are all, in fact, humans who succumb to embarrassing moments; check out Benzi’s full embarrassing DJ stories thread below.

i’ll go first. back in the day i used an old version of Traktor to change the tempo/key of a song to make edits, but only drawback was you had to record it in real time (aka listen to the whole song) to export it….
