Electronauts VR lets you live out your dance music production dream
Remix and perform tracks with Electronauts VR.
Dance music production is entering the virtual reality world with Electronauts, a music creation experience made by VR specialist Survios.
But rather than creating music from scratch (as if it takes a second), players skip the hard work and go on to remix tracks by eminent artists such as the Chainsmokers, Dim Mak talent, Tokimonsta, Krewella, People Under the Stairs, Del the Funky Homosapien and scores more.
Players use stems and virtual instruments to remix tracks, which they can then play live. It is describes as a sort of “Guitar Hero for the Electric Daisy Carnival set”.
You literally have nothing to lose; there’s no scoring system and because of its built-in quantisation, everything’s always on key and the music never skips a beat.
It’s all about the updates
For now they are more EDM focussed with a sprinkle of hip-hop, but they are naturally working on more tracks and packs and updates, with music supervisor Roger saying:
“We have many more songs lined up for periodic release via free content updates. Expect not only more music, but a wider variety of genres and styles… plus some more big headliners too. We’re really excited about the tracks we’re currently working on for future release.”
In their VRFocus review, Electronauts achieved a full five stars which said:
“Electronauts combines a wonderfully elaborate yet perfectly simple gameplay design alongside some of the best dance tunes from around the world, making for a videogame that will have you playing for hours and wanting ‘just one more go.’”
Electronauts VR is available on Steam and Oculus Home for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift at $19.99, and the PlayStation Store for PS VR at $17.99.
