EDM mockumentary series forthcoming
An EDM mockumentary known as ‘Ultimate/Ultimate’ is pegged to appear on TV later this year. It will be aired in the United Kingdom, United States, Sweden, and Germany to begin with.
This new EDM mockumentary TV show will be produced by actor & director, Tim Robbins who is well known for his work on Mystic River, The Shawshank Redemption, and Bull Durham.
The EDM train has proven itself to be a go-go machine, effecting and finding its way into varying industries, particularly film and TV. This EDM mockumentary series could prove to be entertaining if the jokes feature relevant and solid punchlines as most successful sitcoms and TV comedies strive to do.
The show could however find itself being a little late to the party, since the hating on EDM movement has been going strong for a few years already.
Electronic dance music continues to be a topic of relevance and its strong hold on pop culture has made it a talking point in conversations regarding millenials.
According to a report by Variety, the ‘Ultimate/Ultimate’ mockumentary series about electronic dance music is being put together as part of Spotify’s push into the realm of original video content.
The show will be following “several passionate (but modestly talented) people competing in a competition to become the next great EDM star. From pint-sized phenom DJ Sparkle to frat brothers channeling their inner Daft Punk, the series explores the hilarious, endearing and absurd lengths people will go to pursue their musical passions.”
Two years ago, Saturday Night Live took a successful and already hilarious jab at the EDM industry with the “When Will the Bass Drop?”skit.
The DJ named “Davincii” has his finger hanging over the big red button which had ‘BASS’ written on it and he teases pushing it throughout his set.
Fans are freaking out and calling him a god, meanwhile he does everything possible but drop the bass. He fries an egg, plays jenga, works on a sketch of his face, works on his zen garden, and even fakes a near heart attack.
When he finally does push the big red ‘BASS’ button he gets handed bags of money, some of his fans’ heads blow up due to his sheer awesomeness, and he whips out a card machine so that he can swipe the cards of his other still alive fans and take some more of their money.
