Earthdance Cape Town 2016 returns as full weekend event

Earthdance Cape Town 2016 returns in September as a full weekend event after last year’s single nighter.

It is also Earthdance International’s 20 year anniversary so 2016 is indeed an auspicious year for the party that focuses on peace and unity.

It’s incredible to think that two decades of Earthdance have passed and equally amazing to appreciate that Earthdance Cape Town 2016 will be their 16^th such event, just three less than the international brand.

As a global event Earthdance has inspired positive action within the global dance community and has supported hundreds of charities across the world. The Cape Town crew have been at the forefront of this for years and are a shining example around the world.

Theme 2016: Global Shift

The twentieth anniversary theme is “Global Shift” signifying the beginning of a new era of deep peace-making and true environmental stewardship.

Earthdance is one of many peace organizations, groups and projects that align with the International Day of Peace – 21 September.

Earthdance combines music, community, social consciousness, support of charities and activism, asserting that peace is as much about living fully and thriving, as it is is about protesting war (as important as that may be).

Two different dates across the globe

Earthdance Cape Town 2016 will take place on the weekend of 23-24-25 September 2016 at what has become their natural home for the event – Nekkies Resort in Worcester.

In keeping with the theme and celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Earthdance International, Earthdance promoters around the world can CHOOSE between TWO weekends either side of the International Day of Peace.

So if you see other Earthdance events in other cities on the weekend of the 18 September 2016, they are not wrong, they have just chosen the first weekend.

Earthdance Cape Town 2016 have opted for the second weekend.

There will also be new times for the Prayer for Peace this year.

The Prayer for Peace is the traditional global link up but this year there will be a 10 day effort to create a Prayer for Peace from the one weekend to the next.

Earthdance Cape Town 2016 Details

3 Days – 2 Nights – The Full Weekend

For 2016 they return to the full weekend format of yesteryear, a full 3 Days, 2 nights of collaboration, music, magic and peace.

“We will also be putting more focus on the core that has supported and made Earthdance Cape Town what it is today and more importantly kept it going through all these year,” they say.

The Musical Landscape

As the 17th year that GoodTimes Events/ Nano Records / The New Avenue Foundation have produced this event Earthdance Cape Town 2016 are spinning things around yet again this year and presenting a more focused musical landscape, and will take us all the way back to origin and the music that started it all for us.

Two Stages

This year we will feature 2 stages. Of course the big main Psytrance floor will be in full effect, and will run from Saturday afternoon till Sunday afternoon, while a second covered dance floor will rock the night away on the Friday night with Techno and Psytrance.

This Stage will then feature Downtempo and Techno on Saturday and Sunday and be hosted by some of the coolest Cape Town crews.
