Durban’s Third Annual Youth Hip Hop Festival
Durban’s third annual youth hip hop festival will be taking place on the 10th and 11th of June this year. This year’s event has grown to include a youth talent development programme which has been put together to help nurture young musicians.
They are hoping to give up and coming talent the kind of opportunities necessary to help them break into the South African music business.
Richie R Concepts, Established Productions, and KgoloDaGuru will be heading the initiative that is looking out for new talent across KwaZulu Natal.
This artist development programme was launched last month at the BAT Centre in Durban. They held auditions in a bid to find a variety of young hip hop rappers, MC’s, DJ’s, and vocalists. Their focus is to discover what might be South Africa’s next big act in hip hop.
The artist development programme ends with Durban’s third annual youth hip hop festival. On the first day of the festival, recognisable music business personalities will be hosting a series of educational workshops that will be focused on empowering young artists in the province.
These young musicians perform alongside a line up of some of the country’s top hip hop artists.
The organisers are looking to attract around twenty five thousand young people at Durban’s third annual hip hop festival. They are also working in co-operation with The KwaZulu Natal Provincial Government and Gagasi FM and Channel O.
Artists already pegged to play are Riky Rick, Major League, Junior De Rocka and WTF. The other artists confirmed to play will be announced on Gagasi FM and social media over this week. The full line up will be announced on Wednesday.
