DRUMBEAT 2015 concert final line-up
The DRUMBEAT 2015 concert final line-up is out, last year’s event was completely sold out so it’s to be expected that the same will happen this year.
It’s an event showcasing thirteen successful South African artists, across three stages. You’ll get to experience the rhythms of house, hip hop, jazz, and pop tunes all in one place, on one night on the 28th of March 2015.
The final names added to announce the complete and final line up for the DRUMBEAT 2015 concert are Jonas Gwangwa, Blaklez, Planet Lindela, DJ Kenzhero, and Afro’traction.
Other artists on the line up includes Soweto locals BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness), jazz pianist Paul Hanmer, Cassper Nyovest, Mi Casa, Toya Delazy, AKA, and Max-Hoba.
If you’re a local music follower and you enjoy a fairly mixed pallete of sounds that are carried along a similar vibration of jazz music and its descendants, you will probably enjoy this concert.
Jonas Gwangwa has been a prominent figure in South African jazz for more than forty years. He became renowned for playing trombone with The Jazz Epistles. When the group broke up he carried on contributing to the South African music scene and then also internationally at a later stage.
Blaklez, is a Pretoria-based artist who started shaping his career with appearances on Slikour’s Ventilation Vol2 and Tuk’s album Footprints. In 2013, he released his debut album CapCity, the album includes the radio hits Hush and Don’t Be Scared. Blaklez was nominated for four SA Hip Hop Awards back in 2013 including Album of the Year, Most Valuable, Best Video and Best Male.
