Dolby Atmos Surround Sound planned for clubs
The Dolby Atmos Surround Sound is being planned for use in clubs. Imagine the movie theatre sound experience inside a night club.
The innovative Dolby Laboratories is who you can thank for the movies’ and your home theatres’ surround sound technology.
Now, the company will move into the world of live music and night clubs with Dolby Atmos. Allowing music lovers and party goers seriously high quality audio while out having a good time. Dolby is partnering with specific artists to debut the concept and they will be releasing those names in the next few weeks.
“A club that has been outfitted with a Dolby Atmos set-up will give audiences a unique and high-quality audio experience they’ve never had before. This sets the venue apart and also draws in forward thinking artists and DJs that want to push the boundaries by mixing their music in Dolby Atmos. When you hear the difference between a set mixed in stereo versus Dolby Atmos, there’s no comparison.” Said Gabe Cory, Product Manager of Dolby Atmos Music
It’s an interesting idea and a fairly straight forward one at that. It’s as though you wonder why no one has bothered to propose doing this before. It’s cool to think about what DJ’s could do with this kind of sound setup and just how experiencing music in this way will affect the party scene.
By surrounding the room and dance floor with sound, specific sounds could then be placed anywhere in the room, helping create an other-worldly and perhaps even trippy time for everyone in attendance.
In order for the Dolby Atmos surround sound system to take effect in a club the venue has to be fitted with the system. Also the DJ’s music must be prepared and delivered with Dolby Atmos software. You can simply apply the Dolby Atmos panner plugin within a DAW and arrange specific surrounds around the 3D mixing space. Using the Dolby Atmos DJ app, you can then perform the songs and move the sounds around the listening space in real time.
